Resilience Building and DRM
To strengthen the resilience of countries in East Africa we work with Governments and partners to enhance the capacity of individuals, communities, institutions and systems to cope with shocks and stresses, adapt to changing conditions, and transform in ways that reduce poverty, inequality and vulnerability. Horn Development Advisory (HDA) works to address the root causes and drivers of fragility, conflict and violence, as well as the impacts of climate change, disasters and pandemics, which pose serious threats to human development and well-being in East Africa.

We utilise integrated and multisectoral approaches that combine humanitarian, development and peacebuilding efforts, and involve the participation and empowerment of local actors, especially women and youth. Resilience development also entails investing in prevention, preparedness and early action, as well as in long-term recovery and reconstruction, to ensure that gains are sustained and losses are minimized.

Our firm also supports countries in East Africa to enhance their multi-hazard early warning systems, aiming to mitigate the impacts of natural disasters such as droughts, floods, and cyclones. Through technical support and capacity building, we work closely with local authorities to develop robust early warning mechanisms, improve data collection, and foster community resilience. These initiatives not only enhance preparedness and response but also contributes to the long-term stability and development of the region.
